1574 (Pembroke) Squadron |
| No.1574 (Pembroke Borough) Squadron ATC was formed at RAF Pembroke Dock in June 1941 for boys aged 13+. During the war the cadets helped the RAF ground crews service and re-arm aircraft between missions, as well as performing many other tasks around the station. 1574 Squadron remained when RAF Pembroke Dock closed. Girls were accepted from 1986 and the squadron remains the only part of the former RAF Pembroke Dock still in existence. |

I
(the editor) and the resources of the Pembroke Dock Community Web Project
are pleased to promote the local A.T.C. Squadron, (see
www.moolightblue.co.uk). Aircraft and the Royal Air Force,
following service in the
RAF Regiment remain
an interest. I have enjoyed over the years links with
611
Squadron
(Volunteer
Gliding School)
, Royal Air Force, Swanton Morley Norfolk, where I was
flying instructor. The school
is now
stationed at Stana Airfield, Watton, Norfolk, formally
the home of Royal Air Force, Watton,
. I also assisted as an instructor with the Air
Training Corps at No 2110 (North Walsham)
Squadron with there strong links to the now
closed Royal Air Force Coltishall, and in the eighties it was No 356 (Felixstowe)
Squadron....yep we had a flying boat base there to...in fact in my day
they used the old Guard Room as our Headquarters...Editor AJWhy not contact the Project to see if we can help YOU ! |
