“Exciting opportunities for young people with Milford Haven Port Authority’s ‘Voyage of a Lifetime’ Scheme”

Voyage of Lifetime is a brand new scheme launched by Milford Haven Port Authority. The scheme aims to give the young people of Pembrokeshire the chance of a lifetime to take a voyage on a magnificent Tall Sailing Ship. 

In partnership with the Tall Ships (Wales) Trust, the Tall Ships Youth Trust and the Jubilee Sailing Trust, MHPA are offering young people the opportunity to embark upon a life changing experience. 

MHPA are looking for young people who can convince them that they could really benefit from this sort of experience. They are inviting 16 to 25 year olds from all over Pembrokeshire to embrace the opportunity and have a go at sailing in what will be an unforgettable experience. 

Young people can apply themselves or be nominated. Eligible groups are:

1. Physically disabled people – some vessels offer the opportunity to take part as an equal member of the crew.
2. Strength of character – For those who have made it through a difficult time within the last three years.
3. Community spirit – For those that do a lot to benefit their communities.

If selected to take part, young people will be expected to cover their travel costs and make a contribution towards the berth, but MHPA will cover most of the costs of getting people aboard. There will be the opportunity to indicate preference from an exciting list of destinations. 

Applications or nominations are invited by January 31^st, 2008. The format of the application can be either written or recorded. Information leaflets and posters have been distributed throughout the County’s sixth forms, Duke of Edinburgh programmes, youth centres and other outlets.
